Mr. Saygbe has been working in the United States corrections field for over 30 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, a Master Degree in Justice Administration from Anna Maria College in Mass and a Master Degree in Homeland Security Organization Development from Wilmington University in Delaware. He has worked with both juvenile and adult populations in a variety of specialized programs and capacities. He has extensive experience in the supervision, treatment, management of juvenile and adult offenders as well as mental health and substance abusing population. In addition, Mr. Saygbe has spent considerable time developing standards, policies, best practices for gang intervention, suppression, prevention and re-entry. In 2002, Mr. Saygbe was appointed to the position of Director of the Crime Prevention and Community Outreach with the Rhode Island Office Attorney General and served in that position for 8 years. Mr. Saygbe is a trained consultant in gang education, prevention, suppression, re-entry, youth leadership, restoring safer communities, and working with parents. Mr. Saygbe created the “Third Eye Program” which was executed in most school districts in the State of Rhode Island and received 12 national awards during its first four years of implementation. Mr. Saygbe worked as one of two senior trainers with the National Crime Prevention Council (a contract entity with the U. S. Department of Justice) providing training and technical services in areas of crime prevention and capacity building.
Mr. Saygbe is a community organizer that has been a strong advocate for Liberians immigrants in the United States during and after his tenure as president of the Liberian Community Association of Rhode Island. During his presidency, he successfully petitioned the Rhode Island Congressional Leaders to introduce two bills in the House of Representative and Senate to grant permanent status to all Liberians with temporary immigrant status residing in the United States.
